Laboratory
The city laboratory provides the City of Tucumcari residents, as well as surrounding towns and private wells, with a state certified lab to analyze water that meets EPA/NMED requirements for potability (bacteria). We also test Tucumcari’s and numerous other facilities wastewater to meet EPA permit regulations.

The lab director oversees all Wastewater testing for 3 NPDES (EPA permits) and 4 groundwater discharge permits (NMED state permits), which we analyze samples for 4 different municipalities.
Obtain all the information needed by the Wastewater Treatment Plant to operate the plant efficiently, as well as obtain data necessary to meet federal/state permit requirements. Oversees all Potability testing for 19 public water systems and reports/uploads results to NMED, as well as analyzing for private systems. Schedule work, check work, prepare reports, prepare requisitions, maintain inventory of testing supplies, prepare invoices, and prepare budgets.
